A mailbox couldn't be found for NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. If the problem continues, contact your helpdesk.

Hi,

I have mixed exchange 2007 and 2013 environment where e2013 only used for testing so far. I followed technet guide with all prerequisites etc and install went without a problem. I created one test user using ECP but get "A mailbox couldn't be found for NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. If the problem continues, contact your helpdesk." message when trying to connect to mailbox via OWA. another thing: If I enter test users credentials into ECP logon it opens Exchange Admin with all the rights which is the same weird and scary.

Some info: E2007 is installed on Win2003 server, E2013 on win2008 with both CAS and Mailbox roles.

I can see all users from 2007 on 2013 Admin page and vice versa.

Any suggestions how to get OWA for E2013 working and test user not getting admin rights?

P.S. This test user only belonges to domain\users group

Hi,

i supposed the NT AUTHORITY\SELF means the mailbox is not a linked mailbox, this could be a SHARED mailbox. You should set up the Linked master account to be able to log in via OWA.

hope it helps,

hi, no that is regular USER account, after your post I tried to create linked account but it said that linked accounts needed for accounts outside organisation and "
No forest or domain trust can be found. At least one forest or domain trust must exist before you can create a linked mailbox"
Do I really need to create domain trust?

Hi

Please check if you can get the mailbox via Exchange management shell.

What do you mean by saying  "If I enter test users credentials into ECP logon it opens Exchange Admin with all the rights which is the same weird and scary" ?

In exchange 2013, EAC replaced the Exchange administration console (EMC) and Exchange control panel (ECP), if you logon ECP use non-admin account, it will return the account ECP page.

Do you mean that it shows the EAC (Exchange Admin center) when you logon use non-admin account ?

If so, please try to logon administrator and then sign out, test again.

If it doesn't make sence, you can also try deleting the IE cache.

1. Yes, I can get mailbox via EMS

2. yes I can enter EAC with test user credentials, but cant enter OWA

3. I did delete all temporary IE data but I can still access EAC with test user credentials

4. I noticed that after every unsuccesfull logon to OWA, event viewer records event ID 1309, source ASP.NET 4.0, category WEB EVENT. and data is:
